Madison-area Urban Ministry
Mentoring Connections
Mentoring Connections provides mentoring services to children who have an incarcerated parent. MUM will recruit, train, and guide 70 volunteers to mentor children of an incarcerated parent in collaboration with faith-based and community groups and a grant from the US Dept. of HHS. There are over 1,600 Dane County children who have a parent in prison. Children of incarcerated parents face health, isolation, and attachment issues. They may also be at risk for going to prison themselves. To sign up a child or get a Volunteer Mentor Application Contact Fabu Carter Mogaka at (608) 661-5437 (ext. 27) or fmogaka@bbbsmadison.org.
